Volunteering

Things we love poster

New volunteers always welcome!
Fife Folk Museum is an independent museum and almost all of those involved in running the Museum are volunteers. Some of our volunteers are featured in the current exhibition of photographs by Caroline Trooter, "Things We Love".

Volunteers carry out many different tasks for the museum, such as:

  • Adminstration or office work
  • Archiving or cataloguing
  • Conservation of collections
  • Educational activities
  • Events organising
  • Exhibition preparation
  • Farm machinery restoration
  • Fund raising
  • Meeting and greeting museum visitors
  • Practical DIY
  • Shop stocking and retail

Some of the tasks involve working with the public and some are "behind the scenes". For the Museum to be open to the public throughout the open season from 1st April to 31st October, we rely on our volunteers. Two volunteers are needed on duty for each morning or afternoon session, Wednesday to Sunday. No special skills are needed other than reliability, an interest in the Museum and its exhibts and communicating with the public. Training is given on a variety of tasks to suit each volunteer.

We are always keen to welcome new volunteers. If you think this sounds like the right volunteering opportunity for you, please contact us by email, margaretmc51@icloud.com, the contact form on the web site or phone us on 01334 828180 to make arrangements to call in for a chat. We'd love to meet you and have you join our team!
